Now that's a hoe.
"Now, that's a Hoe," is the usual comment of someone picking up this beefy tool. The blade and shaft are forged from a single piece of 7/8" square steel rod. The 5 1/2" hickory handle is riveted to the bottom of the shaft. This hoe weighs in at just under two pounds. While it measures from 12-14-inches long, the balance point is just five inches below the blade. When you swing this hoe, it's like swinging an axe or hammer.
It doesn't take much effort to drive it deep into the ground. The flared blade is sharpened across the bottom and well up the sides. It clears a swath 3 1/2" wide. This elegantly simple implement is a workhorse capable of the roughest ground breaking or weeding chores. |
